Christmas light installation in River Hills
One of Lake Wylie’s original planned communities, begun by Sea Pines in 1970.
About River Hills
River Hills Plantation, on the South Carolina side of Lake Wylie, was taken over in 1970 by Charles Fraser’s Sea Pines company of Hilton Head, which marketed it as "a way of life, not a sub-division." The first lot sold that October, the first house was started in 1971, and the guardhouse went up the same year. Today it is a gated community of nearly 1,100 homes on more than 800 acres.
Its golf course, credited to Willard Byrd, traces back to the Commodore Golf Club of 1969, and members took over the country club in 1978. The River Hills marina sits in Joe’s Cove just off the main channel, with more than 200 covered slips.
How we light River Hills homes
More than fifty years of growth means River Hills has some of the most mature trees on the lake. We wrap and light them so they frame the house, and on waterfront lots we light the lake side for the view from the cove.
Homes range from 1970s originals to large rebuilds, so every design starts with a measured walk-through rather than a package.
