We have listed the displays in order of how often people ask us about them, with the dates and prices each organizer has published for 2026. Where a 2026 date is not out yet, we say so and give last year’s dates as a guide.

Speedway Christmas at Charlotte Motor Speedway

A four-mile drive-through around the speedway oval, pit road and infield road course, with more than five million lights synced to music on 101.3 FM. On select nights the infield Christmas Village adds vendors, a tubing hill, an illuminated walking trail and photos with Santa.

  3. 3. McAdenville, NC

    McAdenville Christmas Town USA

The tiny Gaston County mill town has strung red, white and green lights through its trees, homes and downtown every December since 1956. You can drive the route or park and walk the sidewalks, and the official tree lighting and the Yule Log Parade (a tradition dating from 1949) anchor the season.

    When
Lights on December 1–26, 2026, 5:30–10 PM nightly. Tree lighting December 1 at 5:30 PM; Yule Log Parade December 10.
    Cost
The town lists no admission charge.

Tip: Arrive around 5 PM or come on a weeknight. Past seasons have brought nightly backups on I-85 and US-74 and closed some side streets, and the homes are private property, so stay on the sidewalks.

Planning a light-show night

Drive-throughs (Speedway Christmas) suit small children and cold or rainy nights. Walk-throughs (Carolina Holiday Light Spectacular, Daniel Stowe) are better for photos and for meeting Santa. McAdenville is free and works either way.

Every one of these gets crowded on December weekends. A Tuesday or Wednesday in early December is the single easiest way to make the night better.
