Lake Wylie sits on both sides of the state line, and its holiday season does too: a garden light show at Daniel Stowe and McAdenville, lit every December since 1956, on the North Carolina side, and tree lightings and parades in Tega Cay and Clover on the South Carolina side.
We install Christmas lights on homes around the lake, and these are the public displays our Lake Wylie clients ask us about most.
1. Belmont, NC
Holidays at the Garden, Daniel Stowe Conservancy
The conservancy lights its 90-acre garden with millions of lights. The 2025 season added a trackless train on select Saturdays, visits with Santa and an adults-only (21+) speakeasy. It sits on the Lake Wylie side of Belmont.

- 2026 prices not posted yet. In 2025 adult tickets were $28, $24 on Monday–Thursday value nights and $33 for a flexible-date ticket.
Tip: Timed tickets sell out on December weekends, so book ahead.

McAdenville Christmas Town USA
The tiny Gaston County mill town has strung red, white and green lights through its trees, homes and downtown every December since 1956. You can drive the route or park and walk the sidewalks, and the official tree lighting and the Yule Log Parade (a tradition dating from 1949) anchor the season.

- Lights on December 1–26, 2026, 5:30–10 PM nightly. Tree lighting December 1 at 5:30 PM; Yule Log Parade December 10.

- The town lists no admission charge.
Tip: Arrive around 5 PM or come on a weeknight. Past seasons have brought nightly backups on I-85 and US-74 and closed some side streets, and the homes are private property, so stay on the sidewalks.

Tega Cay, Belmont & Clover holiday events
Tega Cay lights its tree at the Glennon Center pavilion, Belmont hosts Santa at the Firehouse with a toy drive and the Belmont Police Santa Parade, which makes 14 stops around town starting at Twin Pines Park, and Clover runs a Sunday afternoon Christmas parade.

A lighted holiday boat parade has been held on Lake Wylie, most recently confirmed on Saturday, December 16, 2023, with Papa Doc’s Shore Club as a popular viewing spot. We have not found a date for 2024, 2025 or 2026, so check local news before you plan around it.
