Lake Norman does Christmas town by town. There is no single giant display on the lake itself, but between the boat parade, the tree lightings and the downtown celebrations there is something nearly every week from late November to Christmas. In 2025 that ran from Birkdale’s lighting on November 22 to the boat parade on December 20.
This is our home market: we hang lights on homes from The Peninsula to The Point every season. The list below uses the dates each organizer published; most Lake Norman towns post their 2026 dates in November.
1. Huntersville, NC
Lake Norman Lighted Christmas Boat Parade
Decorated, lit-up boats parade along the southern end of Lake Norman from Blythe Landing past Ramsey Creek Park and the Peninsula Yacht Club to the Duke Energy Explorium, collecting unwrapped toys for Little Smiles and finishing with Santa.

Tip: Blythe Landing and Ramsey Creek Park are the easiest public places to watch from land.

Town tree lightings: Cornelius, Davidson & Huntersville
Each lake town lights its own tree. Light Up Cornelius fills Town Hall and Cain Park, Christmas in Davidson takes over downtown for three evenings, Huntersville lights its tree at Veterans Park, and Birkdale Village holds its own tree lighting.

3. Mooresville, NC
Mooresville Christmas Parade
Mooresville kicks off the season on Main Street on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and downtown follows with an evening Classic Christmas celebration in December.

- Tuesday, November 24, 2026, from 3 PM on Main Street, with first responders leading and the procession following around 3:30. Classic Christmas downtown was Friday, December 12 in 2025.

4. Concord, NC
Speedway Christmas at Charlotte Motor Speedway
A four-mile drive-through around the speedway oval, pit road and infield road course, with more than five million lights synced to music on 101.3 FM. On select nights the infield Christmas Village adds vendors, a tubing hill, an illuminated walking trail and photos with Santa.

- November 20, 2026 – January 3, 2027, 6–10 PM nightly, rain or shine.

- Sold per vehicle. 2026 prices not posted yet; in 2025 weeknight entry started at $46 per car, with Express Lane and season passes available.
Tip: Fridays and Saturdays in December are the busiest nights. The speedway suggests Thursday or Sunday. In 2025 it was closed on Christmas Eve.

Neighborhood lights around the lake
Some of the best lights on Lake Norman are on private homes, and many of the most striking are designed to be seen from the water as much as the street. If you are touring neighborhoods, be respectful: stay on public roads, keep moving, and never block driveways.

The Mooresville Christmas Parade runs on Main Street on Tuesday, November 24, 2026, from 3 PM, and downtown holds a Classic Christmas evening in December. For a big light show, Speedway Christmas in Concord is the nearest drive-through.
