About Ballantyne Country Club
Ballantyne began as a Harris family hunting tract in south Charlotte. Johnny Harris and Smoky Bissell started developing it in 1992, and its roughly 2,000-acre rezoning was the largest in Mecklenburg County’s history. Crescent Resources bought the 610 acres that became Ballantyne Country Club, built around a Rees Jones course from 1997 that Jones and Greg Muirhead redesigned in 2015.
Since 2022 the Carolina Holiday Light Spectacular has run each holiday season at Ballantyne’s Backyard on N. Community House Road, a short drive from the club.
